Deniz started coding at 16. She has won many national and international awards with her research projects in high school. Deniz says ‘I often felt alone being the only girl competing. I also had people telling me I shouldn’t pursue what I was pursuing due to my gender. I want to change that for other girls. That’s why I am working with KizCode.’. She is now 20 years old and continues her education at the University of British Columbia with a scholarship. She works on Human-Computer Interactions at her university’s engineering department and leads Formula UBC’s software team.
Deniz’s dream is to innovate the way education is delivered using technology. In KizCode, she is responsible for developing our curriculum, online education materials, and workshop content. She is also working on launching KizCode in Canada in the near future.
